Fernland Studios began from a seed planted in June 2020 for spaces of protection for Black, Indigenous, and all people of color who protect ancestral lands, steward waters we call home, and preserve cultural lifeways.

We’re asking you to help us move this vision forward by raising $2,074,856 for a long-term home on Wapato Island, Oregon, for artist residencies, ecological arts education, writing retreats, and creative ecological justice fellowships for communities of color.

What are we providing?

  • Creative Studios

Access to creative studios for Creative Ecological Justice Fellows and artist-in-residence, including a ceramics studio.

  • Creative Makerspace

Including communal working space, bookstore, educational work tables and somatic exercises.

  • Program Lodging

Sleeping space for artist-in-residence, writing retreat participants, CEJ fellows, and visiting community members.

  • Traditional Foods

Dedicated space for culinary, medicinal, and spiritual food making and sharing. A home for ceremonies and ecological workshops.
